O.J. Simpson

On September 14, 2007, Orenthal James Simpson was thrust back into the spotlight upon his arrest at the Palace Station Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Simpson was charged with multiple felonies, including use of a deadly weapon, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, assault, and robbery, as he attempted to regain control over memorabilia that Simpson claims was stolen from him. Simpson faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted of the felonies.

America's fascination with O.J. Simpson dates back to his professional career as an NFL running back for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. Simpson also had an acting career and was a commentator for Monday Night Football. In 1994, O.J. was involved in the infamous car chase in Los Angeles, CA, as he ran from police who were arresting him on charges of the double murder of Nicole Brown-Simpson and Ron Goldman. The media deemed the ordeal to be "the trial of the century," and it has been reported that over half of the US population tuned in to see the verdict of "not guilty" delivered. The trial was analyzed from every angle, including along racial lines, where O.J.'s innocence is still a hotly-debated topic between black and white Americans.
